Had another laughing fit tonight at evening service dinner... some of you might not believe me, but if you know me enough, i dont get it too often =) (probably more often that some of you but not as much as you may think =P) hehe but i guess if you only see me on Sunday night, you would thought of that =P but i do enjoy having a good laugh, have you ever heard the quote "Laughter is the music of the soul" =) i relate to that very much =Panyway, it make wonder why do people laugh? well, tonight i laughed cause... of i ate way too much food? really tired? the people around me or.. hmmm flick? =P so i google "why do people laugh" n found some random facts! and here are my thoughts:....

People always relate laughter with immaturity... and i wonder why.. i mean you're happy and you laugh, so how does it make you immature? even this one guy wrote article, admit that he doesnt laugh very often at all. He thinks laughing is very immature if you do it to much. (thats why Men have been shown to laugh much more quietly around women, while laughing louder when in a group of men. cause they think its immature thing to laugh out loud and doesnt want to be seen as immature in front of girls?) hmmm so what do you guys think about this?... i dont agree but i understand where they coming from.. why? well, no one has actually counted how much people of different ages laugh, but young children probably laugh the most. At ages 5 and 6, we tend to see the most exuberant laughs. Adults laugh less than children, probably because they play less. And laughter is associated with play. so when adult laugh a lot, they relate them with children, being childish and immature.. but ya i disagree, i think when adults laugh a lot, its just mean they're happy =) ehehehe
Another thing that i found interesting is that most laughter is not about humour, it is about relationships between people. They did this research and went around the city - mall - food court - restaurant - and found that most laughter does not follow jokes. People laugh after a variety of statements such as "Hey John, where ya been?" "Here comes Mary," "How did you do on the test?" and "Do you have a rubber band?". These certainly aren't jokes.
One last thing - Women laugh much more in the presence of men, and men generally tell more jokes in the presence of women. aaw Steph, Rav, Andrew, Lenard, now i got it why u boys say laughing or smiling can be a bit too friendly towards guys! hmmm =)
and oopps one more thing i promised =P I heard that 10 minutes of laughing is equal to 1 hour of exercise! (it definietly feels better than sits up!) and apperantly a good strong laugh also provides a massage for the facial muscles (therefore, it makes you look younger)=P and Norman Cousins cited laughter as an effective tool for promoting the healing process. He states, "Laughter is internal jogging."
but most importantly, laughter doesnt give you JOY! might give u happiness -but not Joy.... Joy comes from the Lord.. =) Nehemiah 8 - "Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength"
ok enough ramblings about laugh - laughing - laughter =)
Proverbs 17: 22 .... A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
"Sorrow is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart." - Ecclesiastes 7:3
talk about laughter..
i can't wait to watch russell peters!!
I definately disagree with whoever said laughing means you're immature. I think the reason kids laugh a lot is because they're still young and innocent and don't have as many worries as adults. Laughter is GREAT! I think we should do it more often. It's healthy, and reflects a good attitude. I think if someone didn't have the ability to laugh then they must have a very sad life.. i'd feel quite sorry for them actually!
Lol yea guys tell more jokes when around girls so that they can make them laugh and girls laugh more so the guys think they're funny... form of flirting.. hahaha. Lol all part of the game..
